I took some pic the other day. I will post them when my head is working right. I have been sick with something and tonight I am seeing double out one eye so my head is not working right.

I don't know if I have pics of THAT roo.... I only have one left from those birds. I culled down to him. I DO have 2 backup project roos I can use in a pinch.

Got power back at 11 last night after 30 hours. The incubator was at 58 degs. Guess I'll start my first hatch this Saturday, after I find my generator! I may try to get to Newnan, but we are still covered in ice, so I doubt I'll be trying to go that far...

Some pullets/hens of one of our breeding partners.

The female in back is a hen, a two year old bird. Look how different the feathering looks after a moult. She was put in a breeding pen.
The female is front is a pullet. Not a bad bird, but that ridge back look? No. She went into the layer flock.

Again, in front is another pullet and the in the back is another hen who has moulted. The hens take on a darker look and in many ways, the feathering is tighter and a more mature look.
Hi Fred, I have noticed a tighter feather plumage in my Silver Penciled Plymouth Rock pullets also in the last month. The cushion looked to be a problem in some of my pullets a few months ago when they were around 6 to 8 months old but now looking at them at 10 months old they are showing much less to no cushion. Glad my chickens didn't lay you enough eggs..... I will have enough next week for sure. Sorry about your hatch, but I would let them go a few more days just in case you never know.

When is the show? I know it is going to be almost 70 next week

I CAN SEE this morning. I think a lack of sleep for a couple of days caused my problem.

Not the best pics sorry. I didn't really plan to take these but I was there and had my phone so..... Scott you can see the size difference in the Partridge and SPPR.

Here is my Keeper SPPR I have a backup roo too but he is smaller.

Here are some of the partridge and SPPR pullets. I think they are starting to lay.... I NEED to sell some birds to clear some pens....

I have not done any culling in the pullets. I don't have a ton to pick from so unless they have major issues they will stay and I can cull hard next generation.

My Partridge pullets are brassy and that will be something I want to work on. My roo I kept is NOT brassy so hoping that will fix that in the next generation. I do love that mahogany color and the brassy just kills the looks to me. I missed my partridge roo and HOPING this new one can fill the shoes of the last one..... time will tell.

The eggs are on day 7, so I will wait till I candle Wed before I dump them. It could be that a few will make it but I'll be surprised. The show is tomorrow. Out ice is melting fast, it's up to 48 now, but I expect that the roads are still a mess. Also, just found out that we are going to have company now that we have the power back on and the broken limbs removed .

Donna, I definitely see what you are saying!!

I really see 2 major differences; #1 - size, but #2 the PRs appear to be tighter feathered than the SPRs

I think both the PRs and SPRs are going to need an "injection" of size from an outcrossing to something. There are so few in the US that they likely all come from the same "basic" lines and thus carry the same basic genetics
