One last thing, then I'm off to church. If these chicks have access to green grass, even for a couple hours a day, those legs will shine with yellow of a daffodil or sunflower. Brilliant, vibrant yellow legs. It's in their breeding and just a little time spent on grass pulls it right out. If there's a prettier sight than a Plymouth Rock chick, at 8 weeks old, flashing bright yellow legs I don't know what it would be.

good day everyone.
Thank you for all the above comments.

I agree about the green grass, thanks for the tip. They were on grass until about 2 weeks ago when I moved them into the chicken yard. Once they get acquainted with the others I will start to be let them out again.

Take her north about 100 miles, around Dec.5th. She'll show very well as a hen. I"ll look forward to seeing her.

I am absolutely impressed by the size of Plymouth Rocks. Mine are still very young at nearly nine weeks old but the size is great compared to all the other breeds I have raised in the past and currently. I got a picture today of my 9yr old DD holding an almost 9week old chick and I was amazed how large the chick is in her arms. I told my DH that Im really thinking I might go strictly with BPRs for now on. Not only for the size but laid back, friendly personality to boot.

Here she is with a BPR pullet and a Cream Legbar pullet (CL being only one week younger) completely different weight class I know, but the way the BPR fills her arm is something I am looking for.
