i am super ticked! i hate cops like that. I had a cop slam me against my door cause he wanted or should i say, tried to come in my house. Told him to take his f-bombing hands off me and to get the HE double hockey sticks off my property. made him wait on the curb for his warrant, he didn't get! Then i shouted to him to take his fat butt down to the 7 11 and get some doughnuts!! He had it in for my family and thought because i was some skinny young girl, i didn't know the routine. THOUGHT WRONG

This is the municipal code that I found before I got my chickens

Sec. 4-1. Keeping of livestock, fowl or swine.
(a) Keeping without permit declared nuisance. The keeping, harboring or permitting of cattle, horses, sheep, goats, fowl or swine in the city without a permit constitutes a public nuisance unless they are to be kept only temporarily in stockyard or farm produce establishment awaiting transportation or slaughter, or for exhibition purposes.
(b) Permit. A person desiring to keep cattle, horses, sheep, goats, fowl or swine within the city shall obtain a permit, which shall include such conditions of shelter and maintenance as may be prescribed by the city. If the designated city officer, after viewing the premises and the conditions, approves such permit for the keeping and harboring of animals or fowl within the city, the application for the permit shall be submitted to the city council for its consideration, and the council may either grant or deny such application. If granted, the permit shall permit the keeping and harboring of the animals or fowl within the city only at the pleasure of, in the discretion of, and until the further order of the council.
(Code 1978, § 1410.02(o))

Sec. 4-2. Allowing livestock, fowl or swine to run at large.
It shall be unlawful for any owner or any person having the control of any cattle, horses, mules, donkeys, sheep, swine, goats, poultry or geese to allow or permit the same to run at large within the city.

I didn't think getting a permit was a big deal, because I have a friend that lives on the other side of town and her dog bit a neighbors freeranging chickens.

She had to pay a fine for her dog biting the chicken. They people were raising the chickens as meat birds, so they don't have them any more, but.................I didn't think they would come and just take them away!
I thought they might fine me at the worst!

to be honest, I am past the chickens. this is bigger than them. Sorry,it's how they went about seizing them that is ticked me off!!

The fact that you did not have a permit does not give the officer the legal right to enter your property and/or confiscate your chickens. The fact that you were able to reclaim them is proof of that. You really need to issue a complaint against that officer.

I changed my mind. I'm not writing to the mayor right now, but thank you all for your support.

I'm really too afraid of my neighbors to make waves and .........I might change my mind, but for now I just miss my girls.

You should take action against this unlawful entry. They had no right to enter your property and home without the correct warrents. Raise Cain!!!!

email him and wait for a response. If possible email or call the attorney general and the newspaper. have IA investigate his actions. I know i will email them but let him have a chance to respond first, then unload the beaast! oh, and i vent here, but i do pull it together when needing to act all edubacated and all. HAHAHAHA

I am sooo sorry, I wish there was something I could do. I know that doesn't help any. All I have to say is GET THEM WITH EVERYTHING YOU CAN GET THEM FOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree...this sounds completely illegal. Do you work, or did they wait until you left your house?? Something is up, and we need to get to the bottom of it. Do you have an ex or in-law that could have let them onto your property?
