The Rhodesian Ridgebacks struck again!

Easy easy nathowe. I have an "aggressive breed" and they don't harm anyone. Lots of people on this board own lots of different breeds so lets not go slapping at any particular breed, OK?

.

I disagree. Yet should be added here.
Yet! Thats like saying because a bomb is in the street we should leave it there becasue it has not exploded or done anything to anyone. Yet

You clearly have no concept of canine behavior. 'nuff said.

Now, back to Jody's neighbor's problem with three big dogs.....................

jody, can you send a letter to the judge who decided these dogs werent dangerous? just say, look what happened again, it could even be annonymous. maybe then the NEXT time someone is trying to get a dog declared dangerous, she'll stop and think about it for a minute? Its too bad you cant find out how these people advertise their puppies, I certainly wanted to know the temperment of the parents of the Rotti we purchased.

that being said, it is about the dog, not the breed. MY dog is considered a "dangerous" breed here bc he was listed as "shepard mix" well he's shepard/yellow lab mix, so now we just have him listed as "lab mix" and suddenly he's no longer "dangerous". So annoying. i m now trying to convince ppl that our rotti is a coon hound, since we're keeping her tail, lol.

Not going to get into a hollering match here but I DO know abit about their behavior . From vet medicine classes and from loosing over 40 head of assorted Deer, Hogs , cattle and a horse over the years, on my farm do to heighborhood dogs that would not hurt a flea . An animal runs and the chase instinct takes over. Nuff said.

You might check local ordinences. Here it's not legal to have more than two dogs per household unless you are a licensed breeder and is not legal to let dogs run free. Must be in a fenced enclosure or leashed when outdoors. There are substancial fines involved. If it cost the owners a couple of $500.00 fines, I'll bet they would be more carful or just get rid of the animal.

Wow...this whole thing is quite the ongoing saga....I hope it has a good end for you horsejody....sorry you've had to deal with all this drama.

At the VERY VERY LEAST, the dogs ought to be neutered. Owners too (if I were Queen).

Around here if a dog is on your property and 'molesting your stock' you can shoot it. If the dog attacks someone (and remains alive) it is taken into custody.
If they do not have a kennel license for a breeding pair (or trio) the dogs would be neutered, at their expense, before being returned. That would put a stop to their profits, until they got more dogs.
Licensing un-neutered dogs, even if not breeding on site, also costs significantly more.
I would think the judge could be sued as well for allowing this to happen .

You have my deepest concerns and sympathy. Animals just don't seem to matter to the authorities. I hope you can find a way to handle the problem. What a darn ugly situation. Connie

Jody,

Do you have any sort of online records in your county? I know you said you tried to find out who their mortgage holder and/or insurance carrier was. How did you do this? If you have online public land records you can look up their mortgage and deed online. Sometimes you can find some information that way. You can also go to the county recorder's office and look up information. We have everything computerized in my county - but even if you don't you can ask the recorder to look up their info by name. For a nominal fee you can probably get a copy of their mortgage. This is all public record in my state - so not sure about yours, but you might want to try this route if you haven't already.
