For those that inquired, There are no licensing requirements for dogs here unless you live in the city limits. There is a leash law, and it is legal to shoot the dogs if we catch them on our property. The Sheriff's Dept is great here. Unfortunately, they can't be everywhere at once. The problem is the bubblehead authorities in Omaha. We are not part of the city, but the county has a case sharing agreement with the Omaha City Attorney. The city prosecutes all dog cases in the county, and many city people just don't get it. We are grouping together as a neighborhood to fight these people. The judge from the last case is getting a letter. So is the city attorney and the county attorney. By state law, these dogs should have been declared dangerous and had tighter restrictions on them the first time this happened. The judge just decided that it wasn't necessary. She is an idiot.
I did hear gunshots coming from that direction on Friday night. DH and I were leaving for a camping trip, so I haven't had a chance to find out what was being shot at. It could have been somebody taking out a coon, possum or coyote, but I hope it was the dogs. We got back too late last night to investigate.
