The rooster built up his strength gradually. He held on to any last specks of survival he could find, ploughing on through the harsh barren land until the first thinning vegetation began to appear. Soon, even grass was sprouting from the ground around him. He ate it gratefully, feeling the warmth and the generation in the environment.
He was at last free of that frozen time-capsule - the land around him was warm, and maybe his heart could learn to warm up too.
It was then that he saw the waterfall. A bright shimmering thing, and it melted any ice that had ever been inside him. He had grown up without something that is essential for most others to be happy and content, but he had never known anything like it. He had never before seen beauty.
He saw her too, a pretty young hen, green with interesting speckles on her neck and wings. Why! What an adorable thing! I have come this far south? There are others living here? The hen had caught sight of him too. She stared for a moment before her eyes started slowly expanding in wonder. Icestar felt laughter bubbling inside him, and he took off, feeling lighter than he had ever felt before. The hen stared in shock before breaking out into a wide grin and taking off after him. They frolicked in the setting sun, the rays glinting off his shimmering, iridescent feathers and he beautiful golden speckles.
Icestar had never been truly happy before that moment, and at that moment, he knew he'd found his life again. He had risen out of the seemingly endless pit, he was revived. Then the hen, trying to impress him, crashed through the waterfall and into the hole behind it...
(crazy, this might seem familiar to you
)
Icestar shrugged. I'll find her again. We were meant to be! I've found the one... His eyes sparkled. He was in love.
