The deputy thing that is.

I figure Wc is a new clan, formed of a bunch of chickens gathering, the first one, Owlfeather, Moonscar, Other, Red. So although the warrior code is known, their kinda still working on things.
So the apprentice thing and other stuff that doesn't quite match the books, it's a new-ish clan. Learning, making mistakes.

How's that sound?
