Chapter 26: the Pecking Order
There was no doubt about it... the Flock's pecking order was seriously mixed up. Una of the Snowy Bloomers was now slightly larger than Fatima of the Gold-dust Feathers, and acted like a perfect little hen. Una now hung around with Fatima and the other Big Girls, rather than Artemis of the Quick Wit, Bella of the Earthy Tones, and poor molting Ophelia of the Chocolate Down. The positions on the roost were shuffled too- Fatima found herself sleeping between Una and Olympia some nights, or wedged between Phoebe and Rita others.
Speaking of Rita... she was going steadily downhill. Fatima knew she had not long left to live. She would miss tiny, spunky Rita.
Sorry that was so short! Not much has been going on, so I don't have much to write about.
