The setting 8/12 raising thread

Hey mine are having their first night out in the little coop tonight...with a heat lamp of course...we were just on the chicken coop tour of Atlanta today and tomorrow and they were out in the coop all day so I decided to leave them there tonight as they looked happy.

They are only 3 1/2 weeks old and I just checked on them all asleep under the lamp out there...hope they will be ok?

I'll keep good thoughts for their sweet sleep tonight

. I'm still working on my new super coop

. Tomorrow we will go outside for fun I think so we'll take a lot of pics. I also just recently got two - two day old Polish Top Hat Pullets and will post a few pics of those cute fuzz heads too

Thanks Melissa...I can see them from my bedroom window down the backyard and I have my flashlight next to the bed for tonight just in case...everyone kept asking me how old they were today and I had forgotten...I thought they were 5-6 weeks old!!! It feels like I have had them that long...lol but I came on here and checked as I had forgotten when they hatched! Lol...

And top hats! You luck duck! Or rather..lucky chicken! What an awesome breed to add to a flock...can't wait for the picks...I took some today of people and the tour so I'll post some...oh and guess what! The news came...11 Alive ... Here in Atlanta and interviewed me and I am going to be on the Monday night news...lol...backyard chicken power!

All did great last night but it was a beautiful night with no wind, rain and not too cold....they are loving their new digs...i may take them back to the brooder for night time though as I just did not sleep that well with them out there...

I hung all my big girls names outside the coop...like it? I will have to add to it when I name the babies that I keep...I have sold 4 already...

What a cute idea! Who wrote the girls names on the signs? The writing is wonderful! If I could write like that I would make one for my coop

I just euthanized my little cross beak ameraucana. I put her in a sealed container with baking soda and vinegar. She took three big breathes and seemed to go to sleep...I hope! I watched for a while till she stopped breathing that I could see then I did it again to make sure. Poor baby...she is gone now but I feel she just couldn't get enough to eat.

I have a Polish baby that hatched Monday that got too cold overnight and probably won't make it. It never feels good to loose one of your babies!
