The setting 8/12 raising thread

yes but i know I did the right thing for both her and me...I just knew she was hungry all the time and her beak could not have been fixed enough for her to eat soon...

My others are going great and are permanently out in the small coop with the heat lamp and they are loving the freedom and being 'big chickens'...I take them a treat of scrambled eggs each afternoon and they almost knock me over trying to get to it before I can put it on the floor...oh and I LOVE my little silkies I got in with them...how did i ever go without a silkie in my life?

I still have 15 silkie eggs due to hatch next Thursday!!! won't be long now!

OK, I have a strange genetic thing happening with my BLRWs

All of the chicks that have hatched out with the splash coloring have been feathering in blue. I have asked about it on the Wyandotte thread but no one has any answers for me. I don't mind because I prefer the blue coloring, but genetically, I shouldn't be getting 100% blue out of a blue x splash breeding. It should be 50-50%.

Anyway here are some updated pictures of my chicks. They are so frisky I couldn't get pictures of all 4 at one time.

I am so pleased that I had loads of girls in this hatch...but I LOVE my spalsh boy. He is super friendly.

Update on my four Blue Laced Red Wyandotte chicks. Looks like I have 3 roosters and one pullet. I have my buff laced Polish pullet in with them since she is the only girl out of 4 and the 3 roosters wouldn't leave her alone.
Here are some recent pictures of them. They did not like having their picture taken

Your Ameraucanas are lovely! I love my Ameraucanas! At just under 7 months old, one of my blue wheaten Ameraucana pullets has started laying, and both of my buffs, so I am anxiously waiting for my lavender Ameraucanas to start laying and the egg size to increase enough to incubate some.
