I was just told this rooster I have is worth between $150 and $200 =) once he is in better condition that is. He is a rescue. I won't be selling him though, I want to show him

Did you ship or have them pick up? I have some ectras I need to get rid of. Where are the pictures? I need to see pics of a $125 chicken. I gi.d that amazing.

Yah i think being able to ship is almost a must for auction.
I think it was a case of being at the right place at the right time tell you the truth. a handful of breeder that already had a small flock of cuckoo silkies, that where thinking about doing cuckoo sizzle project. so a third generation cuckoo roo was just what they needed. and wahlaa bidding war but here he is.

I am curious....I have a red frizzle and a buff silkie breeding pair and have five of thier babies. They ALL have orange skin, three look like buff cochins and two look like buff silkies......what are the odds going to be to get a sizzle?? (black skin frizzle feathers).

if u mate a silkie to one of the frizzled cochin. will get a first generation sizzles and a percentage with dark skin or mottled skin, but even if you don't. you can take the first generation frizzle birds and breed them back to a silkie to improve skin, comb and crest.
thats why its so nice to find a breeder that can skip u ahead a few generations and do some of the years of leg work for u. unfortunately there are still only a few breeder out there, and could always use more people working on these lovely birds

i would think shipping larger birds would be so much easier on the bird than shipping newly hatched fragile chicks?
they can regulate their own temperature better with out getting to cold. but you have to get the right kind of box that are especially designed for shipping birds. and approved by UPS then zip tie a goodly sized wedge of mellon or other fruit to the inside of the box so they have something to snack on wile traveling. then you have to ship them express 2 day air ranging in price from $30- $60 depending on there u are and where u are shipping to. And even though they say two days, i hear most of the time they are there the very next day.
keep in mind not ship in extreme cold or heat and not right before a week end or holiday.
there are most likely much more detailed info out there on this site or others with lots of detailed info on shipping. just start goggling and searching and i'm sure u would find lots of stuff .
