Do it! If its a good breeder with good looking breeders they'll probably (hopefully) have a lot to choose from. Older birds don't sell as fast, so they may have some 4-12 week olds too. You won't regret it when you're hatching your own babies.

Nice! Good job! Just make sure Mr Roo isn't bugging your silkie hen too much since they are alone. Can't wait to see how they feather in! You're just getting started....lol. Better ease the BF into building all your pens.

Yeah. I already figured out I'm gonna have to get another hen real soon. In 15 minutes he'd already got her twice, & tried a 3rd! May have to add my Sultan pullet that I don't plan to breed anyway, just to keep him busy. I'm so excited to see what they become. Only 5 of te 9 even have the black skin, but they're all adorable!!

Or maybe a divider in the pen? Then they'll be "together" but he can't bug her constantly. I don't know if I would chance putting your other hen in...just incase she can't handle anything they may be carrying. Better to isolate before you add anyone, I think.

Your babies are super cute! Good variety on colors! They'll be pretty no matter what. Smooth or curly.

Oh I won't put her with them yet. I'm getting a new quarentine cage on Tuesday, so I may have to just take him out til then. The new one I cage seperate them in if need be. Are Cochins umm worse about wanting "to mate" than most? I've never seen such a busy little guy!! Lol

Ha! No. I think it's probably just a new girl for him and there aren't any other girls to spread " the love" to. Lol lol I had a big mixed rooster that kept a flock of about 35 girls fertilized. No kidding. He was all about his girls. He's probably just young and crazy with hormones right now.
