Ok, so I'm working on getting as many smooth and frizzled barbed feathered Sizzles that I can in every hatch. I also want all the Silkie traits less the Silkie feathering. I bread my Sizzles (all barbed frizzled feathered hens) to two Silkie roos for color and to try and get the correct number of toes on all the chicks, not all my Sizzle hens have the correct number of toes. I'm hoping to get at least two smooth barbed feathered roos out of all these chicks and a few barbed frizzled feathered hens to use for breeding.Hi, Sizzles only have barbed feathers. If it has silkie feathers, its a silkie. I don't know if everyone would agree with this, but to lessen confusion I'm going to say it: Sizzles are a variation of the Silkie, just like Silkied Serama are still Serama. It would just be quite a mouthful to say Smooth and frizzled barbed feathered silkies (or unsilkies)..... They do have some cochin genetics in their background but alot of the new color variations, like the cuckoo silkie have other breed's genetics in them. Any silkies you produce in breeding sizzles are like regular silkies, the only difference is they might occasionally throw a chick with a single comb or other cochin characteristics. Silkies created in a Sizzle program should be sold as pets, I wouldn't keep them in your program. You breed to silkies when you want to improve the silkie traits in the chickens, so you'd want the best quality ones you can find. Hope this helps!![]()
Is this the correct road to be on to get my desired results? If I never got a Silkie feathered bird again I would be very happy.
