The Sizzle Thread!

Pics
Just wanting to clarify something, if I have a frizzle silkie cross that didnt quite make the standard for sizzle, ie wrong comb type, do you then refer to that chicken as a frizzle instead?

I had thought so but then when reading something on the frizzle thread it sounded like they have to be a correct standard of a particular breed but frizzled and so the cross breed of the frizzle to silkie didnt quite fit into that catagory either?

Or is there yet another name for my adorable little cross bred frizzley mongrels that didnt quite make it to correct sizzle standard? lol
"project bird"

And may be useful as a breeder, but not as a show bird.

Should I bred my sizzles to silkies or to cochins? And what color should I breed too? My sizzles are one black and three khaki. I have white, black, partridge,& splash silkies. And I have buff, black, & partridge cochins.
If you are breeding for sizzles, breed to a SILKIE. Definitely not to a cochin. Frizzled cochin or polish is useful at bringing in the frizzling, but should not be continued.

Breed like colours to each other

Trying to get a breeding program set up for Spring any info would be appreciated. I have 1 frizzed bantam roo 1 smooth frizzled roo 3 frizzled hens 1 smooth frizzled hen. 4 sizzle hens(1 smooth) and 2 silkie roos and 4 silkie hens. I have read many sites but alittle confused I know never frizzle to frizzle. What should I breed to get frizzles and what should I breed for sizzle. thanks in advance

I've hatched this chick and it is a surprise Frizzled Silkie. Apparently George is Houdini and got to one of my silkies. How I have no idea.. He has his own pen

It's now 2 weeks old, and is 100% a frizzled silkie. I have no doubt. I think it's a keeper too. It's really beautiful!

Thanks! :) I can't wait to see this little one all grown up. Fingers crossed it's a girl. :fl

All of my frizzled silkies and sizzles have been boys save 1. I've had 5/6 this year be males. :/
Also note that all of my smooth sizzles have been girls save 1 ;)

This is SQUARE ONE, the very beginning of breeding Sizzles from scratch: If I were starting from scratch ( VERY thankful I'm not LOL) I would put my frizzled cochin roo over my silkie hens and a silkie roo over my sizzle hens - this will give you a mix to work with on sizzles.

IF by frizzles you mean JUST frizzled birds, breed smooth to curled in the cochins and you will get both smooth and frizzled cochins
