The Sizzle Thread!

I have a black sizzle rooster but no sizzle hens. What can I put with him in order to at least start getting some sizzles going? I have some cochin/silkie mixes that I was thinking about putting with him but they are partridge coloring so I'm not sure. I just haven't found any sizzle hens in my area. I have silkies, pet quality cochins, olive eggers, easter eggers, and some regular chickens. Unless of course someone here has a couple of smooth feathered girls...... Or maybe some eggs??? I would prefer driving to get either. I am in Gray Maine. Thanks!!

if your sizzle rooster has frizzled feathers you want to only mate him with smooth feathered hens, the results of mating two frizzled feathers birds CAN produce a supper frizzle or frazzled bird with brittle feathers or bald patches.
so if you have some good looking silkie /cochin mix hens with strait or smooth feathers, they might be just what you need. to start a nice project

if im correct black and partridge pairing would mostly give you dark partridge. which i love, post some pictures.
love to see them:)

That's what I was hoping to hear. My cochin were broody so I let them hatch out some of their eggs. The rooster is a partridge silkie and the babies are very cute. Now I can't wait till the girls are old enough to be put in with my sizzle rooster. He has the feathers that curl up and looks like a pinecone.

I agree with Theresa sla you could put him with the cochin silkie mix, or you could put him with some silkie girls. Putting him with the silkie girls would help bring the silkie traits in the offspring. Either one is fine though.

This is a pullet I hatched this year from my sizzle bred to a Showgirl. Does this look like vulture hocks to you? Can Silkie feathers have vulture hocks and still be silkied feathers, not stiff ones? Does anyone know how difficult it is to breed out this trait?
