The Sizzle Thread!

Pics
HMM any guesses as to boy or girl?? I am hoping girl as a silkie roo will be easiest to find but if not I will just have to look a little harder

Excuse the wet feathers he seems to like it when it sprinkles in the heat of the day and will hang out unless it rains hard LOL

He looks like a boy. My sizzle pullets are a little over 1 1/2 months old and do not have any comb. He's got a good size comb that is already red and has red around the start of his beak.

Would someone be kind enough to tell me the difference between the sizzle, frizzle and frilkie? Especially the frilkie? I'm pretty sure I have a good idea on the frizzle and sizzle, sizzle being a silkie x frizzle mix having some of the silkie fluff and frizzles having no fluff? How far off am I?
:duc

I thought i had a sizzle, thats what they sold her to me as, butjust found out shes actually a frilkie, she has silkie feathers that are a crimped and kinky.... If that makes sense:lol:

I like to use a straight sizzle rooster over sizzled hens with frizzled feathers. That way, the majority of your birds are what we like to see best, the sizzles with the frizzled feathers.
Ok so Im so confused

I have some sizzle I think 3 2 month old that look like they did there feathers with a curling iron than I have one silkie looking on also. I was one who let the other chicks go too so I should have kept them and done my home work..

Can you go to 101 sizzle please
fizzle and sizzle? whats the difference
If you all need to send me to a different place to lean Im ok with that also..

I also think I have a paint sizzle and think its a boy...

How much difference is there between a silkie produced trying to get sizzles and a frilkie? Is there a real distinction in the feather kink? I'd also like to know what breeding value is for a frilkie? Thanks.

I will try and explain as best I know or at least the way that I understand it.
If you breed a Silkie to a frizzled barbed feathered Sizzle you will end up with 4 different feather combinations….

  1. A Silkie feathered bird that will looks like a Silkie
  2. A frizzled Silkie feathered bird that will look like what I think you all are calling a Frilkie.
  3. A smooth barbed feathered bird like the second bird pic posted on this thread.
  4. And a frizzled barbed feathered bird, what most people think of when we talk about Sizzles.

If you breed a smooth barbed feathered Sizzle (c) to a frizzled barbed feathered Sizzle (d) you will get both smooth and frizzled Sizzles but I believe you will get more of the frizzled barbed feathered than the smooth. I’m not sure what all the other combinations will give you. I personally am trying to get the most (d)’s that I can and I believe the smooth barb and frizzled barbed is the way to get that.

Hope this is correct and helps some but it's my understanding of it anyway,
Chris

Wait, this sizzle, frilkie stuff is confusing me. What was my chick? A sizzle? Or a frilkie? or a frizzle? xD
