Chris,
Could I use this above chick in my sizzle project by breeding her (if it is a her) back to her father? She is part polish.. the two others that hatched are both frizzled.
Chick in question has five toes, black skin and a comb that looks silkie-ish so far. Size is very comparable. My polish is not much bigger than my silkies.
Father is a sizzle (or a porcupine, take your pick!)What is the father? Chris
That was very detailed, thanks for the description. I thought it wasn't the norm. I've only seen the rooster be the sizzle and the hens are always straight feathered. Right now I only have silkie hens and a sizzle rooster. I don't have an option for a smooth feathered sizzle yet. When I do, I will be sure to keep them.
Question to Sizzle people out there. George bred with a polish hen. The chicks have 5 toes, one has dark skin and is smooth feathered, the other two are lighter skin and have frizzled feathers. Can I use the smooth sizzle x polish in the breeding program (if a pullet) or is that not recommended? She/he has perfect toe spacing for a silkie, but the crest is still growing - so I don't know how big it will be. She has black skin and feathered shanks as well. Not sure about the comb. It's so small. Looks like the silkie combs at this age.

Excuse his tail feathers.. My barred rock rooster picks on the silkies/sizzles - so they are all separate, except George. I'll have to add him back soon.
He has frizzled barbed feathers, not frizzled silkie feathers.OK, with that male, he is a frizzled Silkie feathered bird and your white smooth barbed feathered pullet, I believe you will get all 4 feathering types… a) Silkie feathered b) Frizzled Silkie feathered (like your male) c) Smooth barbed feathered (like your pullet) d) And frizzled barbed feathered chicks (like the chicks in the last pic I posted) Like I said, it all depends on what you are trying to accomplish but I would give it a try. Chris
If bred to a silkie, I could get either:In that case you will get (c) and (d).
Chris
If you bread either your male or pullet to a Silkie you could get all 4, a b c or d.If bred to a silkie, I could get either:
(a) regular silkie feathered
(b) frizzled silkie feathers
but can I get the following?
(c) smooth barbed feathers
(d) frizzled barbed feathers
