Wow! Look at that tail! I think he is very purty... I don't know about show quality. I am sure though, that there is a standards guide on how he should look some where.Night nova!![]()
QUESTION!!!! How's this roo look to everybody? Do you think he could be show/breeding quality? I don't have hardly any experience with Quail d'Anvers so I don't really know........
He looks pretty decent to me. I actually have a hen I want to breed him with but I don't have pics of her. Thanks!![]()
Well lets start with lighting and filtration then-
what type of lighting and filter do I need? I may be able to pick that up this weekend.
What type did you use? I am an instant gratification person- hate waiting, lol.
Fifty gallon tank and stand- sitting here empty. Can seahorses go with Nemos?
Thanks nova! I was pretty impressed with how he turned out since he's only a hatchery bird...... he's a little turd, but it's fun to paint his nails and cuddle with him lol.
I had under gravel filters. Some of the newer aquarium experts are against them for multiple reasons. You can use a canister filter which may be a little easier to keep clean but IMO they distract from the beauty of your tank. Keep in mind when I did this it was many years ago and I used ultra lumes, but now you can get LED!!! Depends on how much you want to spend! I would look around. Again, it also depends on what you're going to have in your tank. If you're not going to have reefs and you just want fish for now you can use the basic regular florescent.
I DO NOT recommend seahorses with any fish. At all! Seahorses are extremely difficult to keep. I learned this the hard way after losing a few. Seahorses are very difficult to keep alive at all because they don't eat, they require different lighting and water temps than almost any other fish and they do better in a very tall tank. You're so much better off with just nemos or any other fish like it.
