The Society of Crazy Chicken Ladies, A Guy, and a Girl

I wouldnt be having a nervous breakdown except that I had to cut my hours in half at work, so I only have HALF of what I used to bring in..my girls school shopping breaks me, and my stepdaughter is getting married on the first. My husband has not given me ONE PENNY toward anything for this darned wedding. I had to buy cowboy boots @100 a pair for the girls to wear (they will never wear them again after this wedding), I just spent 300 on thier dresses. All they are doing is walking the flower girl down the aisle.

THEN-
myself is rectangular shaped. So, nothing looks good. I have no idea what to buy. AND she told me, "Wear whatever you want". She told her mother and future mother in law to wear tan. Well, I am feeling very ummmmmmmmm not part of things. Not one thing has been shared with me, and now 'wear whatever you want' makes me feel really sad. Especially when I thought, "Oh, if I have any kind of color, I am going to stand out- I do NOT want to stand out in the pictures"...I want to blend in.

So, after an unsuccessful two days of trying, and settling, and lowering my standards and everything- I have come up with NOTHING.

Oh, my heart goes out to you! Weddings are impossible to dress for at the best of times, and under the circumstances you're painted into a corner. Here's some advice from a total outsider with, incidentally, very little fashion sense...

Buy something tan that you like that might be useful for other events...separates, maybe, so you could mix and match the pant/skirt and top with other things you already own. And since plain, all-over tan falls shy of festive, maybe some accessories in the other wedding colors. (At least I'm hoping she has a color besides tan...that would make for a very drab wedding!) A scarf, belt, shoes, jewelry, a shell under a jacket...whatever. If some of the stuff was removable, you could always take some off for photos if you felt you would stand out..

In any case get something you will love. Grab your best girlfriend...you know, the one who will try on the ugliest thing on the rack just to make you laugh, and make a day of it. Buy some chocolate on the way home.

Hope things get better for you!

p.s. Hug a chicken. That always helps.

Kim I need to go to typing school or get a new computer. I like the latter one lol

why what did you type wrong? I missed it, whatever it was!!

Are you all ready and sitting down?
She is getting married in a beautiful white wedding gown...the groom and groomsmen are wearing blue jeans and camouflage vests. My husband is wearing a John Deere green and yellow tuxedo, the mothers are wearing tan, my daughters are wearing black dresses with green sashes, the bridesmaids are wearing pea-green dresses and all the girls are wearing cowboy boots. All the groomsmen have been growing out their beards all summer long and look like Amish farmers.

They have ordered straw bales for all the guests to sit on. They are getting married next to a chicken coop.
Their centerpieces for the tables are mason jars with shell casings inside.

Did I mention this is my stepdaughter? Also most all of those details I have had to pick up from conversations with my other stepdaughter or other people. NOTHING has actually been shared with me.
Except when I told her that the girls dresses from the other wedding (last September, my other stepdaughter got married- my girls wore black dresses. She said they will just use the same dresses). I called her today- and said, "we have a problem. The dresses no longer fit the girls. (its been a year). "
She snapped at me. "I don't know what to tell you. Get them altered". There is no material to have them let out. They are strapless dresses. So, we went out today and I bought them new black dresses with money I didn't have.

Hey all,
Now that I am caught up AGAIN, sounds like some
hugs.gif
need to be passed on to whomever needs them.

Kim ... if the boots are still in the box I would take them back and shop ebay still time and some at reasonable prices. For a dress if you have the time try some of the nicer resale shops. Some of them have decent bridal/formal sections. nikki1 has good ideas too. I have absolutely no fashion sense, if I can't wear my jeans I won't go. I will change out of my chicken poo shoes though!

Nova .. sorry about your veggies, watch your birds next they'll want meat to go with those veggies.

Robin I know how gigi thought that was me with the old dog.... from my avatar. Have you tried the hamburg rice at all to gt her to eat?

Hi mish

Kim...... I' m not going to quote your last post I am trying to imagine this. All I could think of was OMG , did someone drop her on her head when she was little

maybe wasnt dropped on her head when she was little, but someone needs to drop her and my husband now.
We have been fighting for three days. He keeps outdoing himself.

I X2 the OMG! What are they thinking? You are being VERY good to do so much for such a group. Rusty has a great idea about Ebay. You can get things very quickly and great prices.
Shell casings inside mason jars? That's really out there (just my off the top of my head). Ammunition at the ready - great way to start a marriage - LOL! I'm so feeling for you.

Kim - If it were me I'd just slap the bejesus out of them , tell them to figure it out, and if they didn't want to share information I wouldn't worry about it. Then I would go to a good bar and have a beer or three.
