They jump off of the comb so fast. It is more effective for me to tweeze and dip them in rubbing alcohol. I do that 2-3 times a day. It seems the number of fleas is getting smaller now!![]()
And I have SO many trees!Heavy duty aviary netting is what we used because we have owls and hawks that would love to have a chicken for dinner. You don't want bird or poultry netting as these are too light weight and will tear easily. This netting is so heavy it will 'bounce' a hawk off .I found heavy duty aviary netting on Ebay at http://www.ebay.com/itm/6-x-150-Hea...427?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item5185ef92f3 . This is a very long roll so it seems expensive but really isn't if you figure out how much you are getting. You can buy other widths and lengths cheaper but our pen is oddly shaped so we used the six foot and then tied lengths together with zip ties. It works really well for birds but won't stand up to a deterimined racoon. I wove wire in the netting in spiral circles around the tree trunks where the netting was not pulled tight and that seems to have stopped the racoons from sliding down through holes and getting into the pen.
I can see how that would work!As soon as I pull the comb out I cover them with my thumb then scrape them into a bowl of soapy water.
You all are going to leave me in the dust!Well, if I can get 1000 posts a month ya'll just better watch out! It might take me over a year but I'll catch up!
Some of the eggs got to 104............Thankfully not cocoa's only developing egg, but still..............I candled again after looking through a bunch of candling pics, and i think i was seeing little chicks in there! But i didn't see movement, i will have to candle again later. So angry! I had planned on testing my new hydrogemeter, then opening only once quickly to candle and put it in there....Now i have to shock the eggs AGAIN............This passive-aggressive attitude is getting on my last nerve.![]()

I thought that too, i love their larger than life personalities, and their poofy little faces.
I will never get anything but EEs from now on!, but then i found OTHER poofy friendlies exist too..........du'ccles, favorolles, others too i can't name right off the top.* Sigh*. And don't forget the absolute fuzziness of cochins, silkies..............I am on a personal mission to pick the friendliest birds of the friendliest broody breeds, and make a whole gaggle of lap babies!![]()
