right ive read online and cant decide, are light sussex a broody breed? because im considering getting one and id like a breed that might go broody

YES YES They do go broody.

I might get one, i did have a broody one last year which was a light sussex but she was killed in november by a stoat. I think i might try get one again

New to the thread and I only scanned this thread and know of sources for speckled and coronation sussex. I am looking for hatching eggs or chicks that are the light sussex. Anyone have any ideas?

my sussex is currently raising her own chick after being broody all the time. She had a cluch of 6 but only hatched one. Its a pekin bantum, light sussex cross so its gona be intresting to see how it turns out

My light sussex just started to go broody. Not the best time because she has to go to fair soon, but she looks so cute in the nest box all puffed up.

how do you know for sure yours is a hen? Mine is supposed to be a hen but other people said roo, so I'm not sure

It looks rooish to me, but there is still a chance it could be a hen.

Well, I have a grown sussex and a buff and eastern egger about the same age as yours currently. The ones that are the age of yours also have the same size comb and comb coloring. I bought them from a feed store that was 95% sure they were hens so I seriously doubt they are both roosters. I also don't see any indicators of your being a rooster but, then again, I'm not a sussex master.
