The Sussex thread!

Could someone please post a pic of what the average sized LS should look like at 18 weeks please?

And to think that I thought she was going to be ugly when she grew up!

Johnn,
What a lovely pullet. Huge congrats!
Karen
Yes, she is so pretty.
Never has any breed come close to my Cochins in my heart but I think I found a new co-favorite. I have my Cor. pullet in a small pen next to a couple of young Ameraucanas that I hatched. When I come near them all the Am.s back into the back of their pen but the Sussex run forward and jumps up and down. I like friendly birds. I already have a buyer for my Ameraucanas and am getting more Coronations.

I noticed my coro. scratches ALOT when she eats. Is that typical?

Thanks to both of you! She is actually really tame considering I have never handled her since she was a few days old. I can stroke her but then she walks off. She's getting there though!

Will these birds ever lay?

My two SS are 34 weeks as of today and STILL have not shown any interest in becoming part of the layers club. Their combs seem to indicate it won't be next week either. They've looked the same for the past two months - reddish but not the deep red they need to be. Am I being unreasonably impatient? Should I quit calling them freeloaders and coo sweet nothings instead? Please tell me they can't hold out until Spring!
