Enjoying elderberries!
It looks like a porous egg. How porous the egg is doesn't have much to do with the breed but more to do with the individual hen.
hmm...about half of my 16 shipped eggs are as porous as this one...my hope level for this hatch goes from low to negative back up to low several times a day LOL. i thought this 1 might be ss because of the dark brown speckles on a cream colored egg.It looks like a porous egg. How porous the egg is doesn't have much to do with the breed but more to do with the individual hen.
Any luck finding it yet?Dorothy is in my bad books. Can't find her new hidden nest anywhere!!
I bought 6 SS, as chicks, in May. They are now all different sizes. I should get a pic. At the same time, I bought 7 Coronation Sussex that were one week older. The Coro. chicks are all huge. This is so good to hear! My SS has been my slowest to develop, too. She was the last to feather out, has hardly any tail feathers at ten weeks, and has always been the smallest of my 4 mixed breeds. I was worried about her for a while, but she forages well, gets along perfectly well with the others, and seems perfectly content, so I decided to leave well enough alone.
Still, I can't wait for her tail to grow!
Weird! Maybe SS's are just a little slower to develop...I bought 6 SS, as chicks, in May. They are now all different sizes. I should get a pic. At the same time, I bought 7 Coronation Sussex that were one week older. The Coro. chicks are all huge.
Mine aren't laying well right now either. One day I got zero eggs so I was convinced they were hiding eggs from me. The next day I found four in the hay, so apparently they all just took a day off (plus I have some that went broody).Any luck finding it yet?
My Coronations aren't laying right now; molting + heat.
