Hoping with the darker male the chicks will be about right. Have to start somewhere and this is the best I could find... at a price I could afford. They are from the Canadian line that has been in Canada for several years.

Even and good buff is difficult to attain and maintain. That is one of the challenges to breeding the buff....the Buckeye...the...well many colors. Then you add the colombian pattern and you have another set of genetic rules. Since the Buff Sussex is not in the SOP we must use the Sussex standard for type etc and the Buff Colombian color standard.
I'm new to BYC, and spending my time, reading as many threads, as I can.
I'm in Central Florida, and looking to add some Speckled Sussex, to my current flock.
I bought a group of Chickens off of CraigsList, and got a Speckled Sussex Hen, in the deal.
I must say, she is by far, one of my fav hens. Should I dare say, she is just as sweet, as my Silkies?!
She follows me around everywhere. Smart enough to know where her coop is already, and the first one in there, every evening. She is the only hen out of this bunch, who freewill wants anything to do with me. The guy I bought them from, had them free range on his property...and never spent any personal time with them. So, most are wary of me...but not this Sussex!
She is a very pretty girl too! I will have to post a pic of her here, and show her off.
If anyone has any Speckled Sussex for sale, in Florida...please PM me. This little hen, has sold me on the bred!
