The Sussex thread!

My Sussex has swollen wattles... They're normally floppy but today seem full...
Not painful and no breaks or anything! Any ideas?

  1. Yes, too soon. It is funny I have two and they look very different and one appears to be very much a pullet and the other it is still hard to tell at 6weeks.

It's early but I would guess right to left pullet, cockerel, can't-see-maybe-pullet, and pullet.
Thats what I was thinking, although the second from left has a larger but pink comb and developing wattles that the other pink comb does not have yet - will post more photos in a couple of weeks.
Thanks for your opinion

my two babies. They are 15 days old. I'm thinking pox might me a cockerel, what do you think? Look how much slower he is feathering in compared to Dumpling. I got them out of the straight run bin hoping for a rooster so I'm keeping my fingers crossed !

pox (left) and Dumpling (right) thinking Pox might be a he ;)

Eeeeeee....this is my new Lil Speckled Sussex!! I named her Biscuit and she's such a bold and brave lil thing!!!!

Maybe, but a bit too early. We are still awaiting results on Olive, but until we her a crow, she is staying olive. We love her or him but can not keep a cockerel. Good luck, and if all else fails maybe we could trade? Just kidding. Have a great day.

hahah I am really hoping for a crow and have a feeling that pox might be, the feathering is just too different. Pox still looks like he did when I picked him up from TSC while Dumpling has a lot more feathering. But only time will tell :)
