The tiny serama; a Hatching adventure

Pics
It’s very heart-warming to see any breed of chicken hatch, but the teeny Serama is EXTRA special, I think. 🥰 After all, I had winter hatches, and that’s something I don’t like doing. BUT, I couldn’t deny the broody determination of 4 Serama girls… and my incubator! (Okay, I might be a little weak with trying to break their broodiness, and mine OBVIOUSLY! 🤣)
I've done the same with my OEGB. I don't know if I have the courage to do it again! Those little cockerels were LOUD!

It’s incredible how such tiny birds have such big vocal cords compared to their size! I think that the smaller the cockerel, the harder they try to crow as loud as they can!!

I know the feeling, so hard to resist setting some eggs! No broodies for me yet, I'm actually getting quite worried, since Cruella has been laying for just over two weeks and she's yet to go broody!

And their voices can be so high pitched!

This! Lady Gaga has such a high pitched crow, it doesn't travel, but it does pierce the eardrum. It's also pretty much constant, especially when he gets fired up

From me too!
@fluffycrow how do you crlebrate Independence day in Greece?

Thank you!

There's a parade that passes in front of the parliament, and each family (or those that wish to celebrate) typically make fried cod with σκορδαλιά. I don't even know how to translate that last thing, but just know that it has a lot of garlic🤣

So true. My Dutch cockerels had a high pitched voice too. Another rare breed (Naine de Tournaises) had a louder voice but less high pitched. The bantam RIR was just as loud but he had a much lower voice that was rather bearable. Even early mornings.
