I will try to do some on it today later but I am so sore - walked a lot already doing shopping. It is good some of us have these things as we can encourage each other to do it daily even for a few mins!! - Glad I found out what an elliptical was - We call them cross trainers here.

I am having a light Dinner tonight.
This morning I had some plain yogurt and mussili (Granola-you call that!) I didn’t manage lunch because we were out. Got a coffee and mini bun instead which probably was not a good idea. Tonight I think Turkey soup??? Or maybe a chicken wrap. Because I got the small bun I don’t think I will get any desert later! I don’t eat supper as a rule so I hope I am making progress in cutting down today. My stomach aches with all the Christmas stuffing!!!!!!

Oesdog:lol:

Gotcha on the cutting down,I awakened too late too get any exercise this morning but will do it tonoght.
I only ate 2 pork steaks,a handful of peanuts and a handful of potato chips, all day yesterday I feel slimmer all ready!
The wife is giving me greef over my diet, she says that I must eat 3 times a day at least.I say once. I'll have to figure this out.
Oh and it has to be heart healthy stuff like yuccy oatmeal and yuccy greens and yuccy yogart, yuccy!Give me beef ,pork and eggs!

Some people do better with 5 smaller meals.... Your wife is right.... Your body will fight back if you don't feed it.... just as your car won't run without gas.... FEED yourself or you will defeat the purpose. Remember.. there is NO shame to eat "When" you are truly hungry.... BUT don't let yourself get famished<?? YOUR body will fight back... and you will be out of control.

<hugs> Listen to your wife.... She is on the right track

I saw these plates a few years ago and I always wanted one. When you mentioned the deck of cards, it brought back memories, so I found pics of a couple portion control plates that some people use to control their portions.

I put 40 minutes on the incline trainer and I'm feeling it today! I was reading about some celebrity who said she made a promise to herself to work out every day for 30 days and after that it had sort of become habit. That is going to be my first goal...to work out 30 days in a row. Honestly, that is a much easier goal for me than cutting calories for even one day. I love my food! I figure even when I don't have time for the incline trainer I can fit in a few minutes for strength training/squats/lunges. I have a feeling I'm going to blow my diet today, though...we got a gift card to Outback for Christmas and are planning on having a late lunch there before we go grocery shopping.

I'm with you on today not being a good food day, my husband's father and stepmother are having a big family dinner today (none of them cook healthy). But it isn't the end of the world it is one meal.

Today the cedar allergies kicked in big time. But I did walk a little yesterday, and I worked in the yard. Today, I'll walk again, and go grocery shopping. I'll get yummy foods I like to eat, that are good for me. I'll also get the allergy meds so I can breath enough to exercise.

We've gotten in some bad habits again lately about eating out. I need to have some "go to" meals in the freezer for the busy days. It looks like I'll be doing a cooking day once a week with extras to freeze. Even if I have some frozen shrimp, I have a meal I can get on the table in 20 minutes, and that everyone will eat.

Cooking for the household is the hard part for me. Low fat, healthy foods that have great appeal for children are sometimes hard to find. My dh eats anything, but the kiddos are a different story.

Thanks for sharing! Those are so neat! I am still amazed by my idea of a portion size and the reality of a portion size. I think excercise is essential, but I know my main problem is just that I eat too darn much! I'm a glutton by nature and the only way I've gotten away with it this far is because I'm fairly tall and all my extra weight is in my middle. I can camoflauge it as long as I'm not dressing up. I don't mind buying a couple pairs of bigger jeans but I refuse to spend money to buy bigger dress clothes. I didn't realize how much out of hand I'd gotten until the last time I went to the doctor. The nurse weighed me, adjusted the scale, got wide eyed and said "Wow. You carry your weight well." I said "Ummm...thanks?" I thought, "What a nice way to say you don't look as fat as you are..."

I like what un-named said "Remember to expect a few backslides as we go toward our goal.... that way one won't feel so guilty and decide to heck with it and quit altogether. One good thing about an unplanned binge... it tells your body that you are NOT starving it and it will kick up the metabolism some."

Not that I'll use it as an excuse to binge, but it makes me feel so much better to remember that one mistake won't derail my plans. Even when I had a trainer I was allowed one free pass a week...usually I used it on either fried food, Mexican food or Guinness. Being in shape and eating healthy are nice, but life just wouldn't be worth living if I had to forgo Mexican food forever!

I love the mini goals as well. Each week, my goal is to lose a certain amount of weight. In my mind, I can achieve the weekly single digits easier.

I would love to join you with mini goals.
