Hey, question...

A while back I had 11 black australorps and all died from diseases. :(

Anyway, all 11 died in less then 9months.

I bought all from different places... Has anyone else ever had them just die?

One of my little chickies was stuck on top of my 14 foot tall coop in the rain! :hit

She was missing, so I looked around a lot, and then remembered she was good at flying. She was on top of the coop! She had used my 5 foot tall coop and then flew up from there. I brought her inside and she is dry now. Poor thing! I'll have to clip her wings.

Sorry, I don't know. I have 3 Australorps, but have had no problems with them. Were they vaccinated?

That's really too bad. Were there any symptoms? Clicking? Something else? I don't know many sicknesses but I have a huge book on them.
1- got an infection that made it so half of her stomach just started rotting. :sick A friend put her down and cut her open, while all her insides were rotting. I never found any symptoms other than one morning I found her choking on her food.

3 just dropped dead... Went out one morning to find 3 of them dead... Which was interesting because they all came from the same place. But were 7months-old when they died. So I hadn't thought anything was wrong from the beginning. I opened them up also and found nothing wrong with them.

1- did eat plastic.

1- died randomly from some breathing problem... One minute she was fine the next she was breathing really hard and then just died. My dad thought she had an allergic reaction to the food change... I just switched the food they were eating that day.

2- died from I have no idea what... They just couldn't walk all the sudden and so I decided to put them down with the help of a friend... I was told not to open them up because dad wasn't home and he didn't want me to (he was on a 2-day trip).

3- Dad says died from a heart attack.

Where did you get them from? (Buy and sell a web site, hatchery, etc.
Bought 4 came to me from a friend that couldn't take care of them anymore as 5-day-olds, 3 from the local feed store, 4 I hatched out on my own.

Oh dear! I have never heard of that happening. I'm really sorry it happened! :hit

Just for those who don't know much about... Here is a small run down about me. :)

Teenage girl with dreams...

I live with my 8siblings in Alaska... We are planning on buying a house soon with 1-acre which will allow me to have 30-40chickens, 1 milk cow, 12ducks, and 7goats. :)

Goats are my first favorites on the farm but chickens come next (ducks are better, lol) and I have permission once settled in a house I get to get Dominique chickens. :celebrate

When I was 12 I hatched my first batch of chickens by the time I was thirteen, I was Hatching crosses and purebred doms... Had a blast see different colors And learning what a good chicken was... I am now bumping myself up to the next level.... Hoping to get quality standards. :D

I am still learning but I am ambitious and don't stop at anything I set my heart to. :)
But you must start with only a few chooks... TO BREED AN ARMY.
