The Welsummer Thread!!!!

I agree...no need to pass down the nasty temperment to his offsprings nor getting yourself or your children attacked by an over protective rooster. A roo just like that would end up in my stew pot. There are plenty of really nice roosters to choose from.

He has great hat feathers in his tail. Looks like there is a purpose for his life. Stew and feathers

Wellies usally are really kind roos. Five months aggressive; one year a terrorist

I hatched some Welsummers this past spring from a reputable breeder. Half of the pullets have a larger single loped over comb, the other half look to be the correct smaller single comb. How common is this in Welsummers and which is dominant?

I have about 35 Welsummers and none of them have a larger single loped over comb. All of them have smaller combs. Not sure where the larger loped comb is coming from.

Do you have photos of birds with large loped combs? Please post if you do

Excuse the photos I just took, they are in temp coop while we are building. This one is from a different line and will be used as layer only

The next two photos are a pullet with comb that leans off her head in the back. The cockerel really likes to use it for handlebars

The next one is a bit tall but stays straight

The two pullets like this one I really like

Well, I'm wondering why my Wells hasn't lain an egg yet also. She will be 26 weeks old on sunday. I've had her since she was 4 weeks old. Totally frustrated waiting on her. Patience is not one of my virtues.
