The Welsummer Thread!!!!

My Wellie is about a year and she's so loud too! We finally were able to sleep with the windows open last night and at 5:45 she's out there singing! The sun is not even up yet and she in the run yelling her head off. My neighbors are going to kill me so if she doesn't pipe down she'll have to go

is this a breed thing or do we just have chatty girls?

My wellie is the NOISIEST chicken I've ever had. My neighbors are going to kill me also...

Let me know if you find out whatever gets her to quiet down!

Wendy the Welsummer has hatched 4/9 guinea eggs as of this afternoon!! They were not supposed to hatch until tomorrow! Miss Wendy is also working on growing a nice set of spurs. It looks like she is going to be a great momma!

Can any one please help me I bought was I thought to be a welsummer can I was waiting for her to start laying it's been weeks now. She just started yesterday at like 30 weeks but the eggs are not what I've read to be from a Welsummer.

She looks like a welsummer. What does her egg look like? Can you post a picture of it? Why don't you think it is a welsummer's? There are variations even within the same breed so that can account for the difference in eggs. In welsummer eggs, some can be darker than others. Some do and some don't have speckles, even splotches.

This is my welsummer?

.When hens start laying their eggs are often off from the norm.....too small,, two large (I had several start with several double yolkers). I even have one that lays a slightly two toned egg, With a little practice her eggs will improve. Definitely looks like a beginning welsummer egg.

This is the egg today which is her 2nd day.

Oh ok thanks for the help. It was just a surprise to my cuz my first flock of 4 started to lay all there eggs were the same from the start. So it was just crazy that it was so small and now it's brown but no spots so hopefully it will change with time.
