Opa~

I keep the darker "chipmunky" chicks, the ones like you are describing with more pronounced darker colored V's and Eyeliner, in my experience they mature to better colored birds.

A couple of my Wellie chicks have the less defined chipmunk stripes. I just zip tagged them differently and wrote it down in the log. Several were easy for me to sex with nice dark v's or well defined dot's and others were not as easy to tell. All tagged accordingly and the iffy's got that sex color tag on the opposite foot. We will see how they all feather in. I like how cute these wellies are when they are 6-8 weeks old and feathering in. Strutting around like miniature chickens!

Got more chicken construction and pen clearing to do to rearrange things. I should be working on a garage sale.........

Bonnie,

No I'm not done with the subbing. I was able to get someone to work for me yesterday, so that was a good day to get feed.

No I don't have any pictures, but will try to get some later, especially pictures of those eggs that you got so excited about. It may be a bit though. If you have a chance, take a picture of those eggs in your incubator and share.

Blessings

Harold

Hi all I've been looking at this thread daily, and seen that leg feathers are a fault. my 10 week old roo is showing a few feathers pin feathers on the shanks of his legs. Please tell me they will go away by the time he molts again.
Thanks John

Sorry John, once they have feathering on their feet or legs, it's permanent. It will NOT go away, believe me, many people tried doing that and it comes back the leg feathers would be much darker. Sorry, you would have to cull him out if you want purebred Wellies but he can be useful for a backyard roo for eye candy or Olive Egger breeder.

And from what I've learned from others on this issue, once it's bred into your flock, it's very difficult to get rid of.
