The Welsummer Thread!!!!

Hoping to get some opinions from people who know Welsummers - My broody hatched out 8 Welsummer chicks 4 weeks ago. Is there a trick to sexing Welsummers? Are these roos or pullets.

Thanks Opa!

Coldupnorth.....I see 2 roos for sure. #1 and #2. I think 3 and 4 might be roos too. I am so sorry.

I read somewhere that the chest color can give you an idea - darker with black is roo and lighter is hen. Is this true?

Ugh - that means I probably have 5 cockerals and only 3 pullets. Thats alot to rehome

Just a couple of pics I grabbed tonight of my almost 18 week old pullet - eggs from Pink... I have another that is almost identical.

That is what I figured, I took the 4 that I thought could be roos and put them on there - I have one other one that is lagging behind and not feathering out much. I think he is a roo too. The other three of the eight look to be pullets to me - no black on the chest and a lighter color. Hopfully that is so because I do want some Welsummer eggs
