That said, I do not show my birds. I am in chickens for the eggs.
I like my Welsummers. They look pretty to me, they are nice calm birds, and they lay plenty of terracotta and speckled eggs. The one roo is a nice guy.
I am going to put them separate in a breeding room soon so that I can have some purebred eggs from my own birds.
I do not think you will be unhappy with your chicks.

Well the breed has been around for 20 years, most of it was in Canada before it was imported in here at least ten years or less. The bantams do need some work in improving the egg colors and sizes but it is not bad comparing to other breeds. If size is important, then keep the smallest ones and breed down but still maintain the dark egg colors as well.
We still got alot of work to do but within maybe five to ten years, we should be consisently getting darker eggs and smaller bodies. Their egg production is pretty good for a bantam!
