The Welsummer Thread!!!!

Hi
Thanks so much for replying.
Im in south Louisiana. Really far from Shrevport. I just found someone that breeds show quality welsumers
in La. Going to get chicks this weekend, hopfully.
Super excited to get a nice Roo and a few hens.
Can you or any other owners tell me if Welsumers get along with other breeds of chickens?
Are they pretty docile or aggressive to other hen breeds?
Thanks again.

thanks. problem is I can't ask them. got them from a friend whose class incubated them and they came from two different places. thanks though. I will continue my research.

Post pics again when they are older and you'll get better answers. There are just too many breeds that could look like that at that stage of development.

When taking pics for ID's, besides and overall pic, get a closeups of the head and feet. Comb shape and leg color are major indicators.

My Welsummers are just over a year old, but two have gone broody and are very protective, so I gave them some eggs to hatch.

We'll see how they do.
I have a broody welsummer right now too. She raised babies last year just fine. I'm going to move her to my barnevelder flock, since she's bent on hatching. That coop is larger and better equipped for babies.
