Can you make a trip to Montana? We have a breeder in Florence, MT and they might deliver to a show. Other than that, we don't have that many out west.

My dad lives in Billings, so it's a possibility but not in the near future. I'm closer to Utah and right near the Idaho border. My husband doesn't really like chickens though so wouldn't take me near a show. lol

I thought I would post a photo of my Welsummers. Did you know they make excellent evening "brooders" for chicks. I have some chicks housed with my Welsummers. The Old Heritage Barred Rocks are very slow growers and feather up real slow so they need a little extra heat. I place a Barred Rock chick between each Welsummer to include roosters. The photo I originally wanted to get was of the rooster with his wings open and covering the chicks on both sides. When I went to get the camera and came back the rooster pulled in his wings so I did not get the shot

But I have these shots for you to enjoy.

My Wellies acting as Brooders. Such a kind temperament bird to even include the roosters. A GREAT, GREAT BREED!!!!!

I brrod my chicks in a converted rabbit hutch which is in the run with my Wellies. Sometimes a few chicks get loose while feeding them and my roo is always right there protecting them from curious hens.
