Nick Which one of yours laid at 17 weeks


My oldest hen is 19 weeks now, she was 16 when I got her 3 weeks ago. And I got my Wyandotte pair at 16weeks old and my hen started laying at 20 weeks and i got my welsummer hen at 16 weeks as well and she started laying at 21 weeks as well

I am so very excited to have brown spoted eggs! What can you tell me about this beautiful breed? What age can you began to tell gender and what am I too look for? Thanks
 
I have heard people talk about chicks with the dark eyeliner becoming hens, you could look for that. Otherwise, you'll have to wait and see if they start getting a big comb and wattles. If you see those developing substantially at 8 weeks of age or under, you might have a rooster. Enjoy your chickies!

She is a little less timid now, I'm trying to teach ehr to eat from my hand but I know not to expect much because Welsummers are usually quite timid
