I have not done that cross exactly, but my experience is that the chicks come out looking more like their mothers when making crossbreeds. I crossed welsummer hen with a BLR wyandotte cock and got rosecombed welsummers with darker chests and underfluff, but they still have the markings of a welsummer.
Our girls layer dark eggs right away, but I have read somewhere that their eggs can get a little darker with time. Maybe she's still just figuring it out![]()
