Hi, I just wanted to thank everyone here on this board and especially this thread for helping me start my first flock. I had read about Welsummers and thought that would be the breed for me. I even got a chance to see a bantam flock in Holland. Reading through all these posts really sealed the deal. So, Thank You!!!

I bought an incubator and some eggs from Whitmore Farm. Of the 20 eggs that I started with, four hatched - which I guess isn't a terrible outcome for a first time hatcher with shipped eggs. Unfortunately, all four Welsummers are roosters - ugh! So, I got four EE "consolation chicks" from the feed store. I'm going to keep my favorite Welsummer rooster and the four EE girls. I'll try again next year for my Welsummer hens.

Here are some photos of the new coop, the four boys - and especially - my favorite roo.

I decided to name her Willow, but now I need names for my three nankins. I keep hearing everyone talk about the black eyeliner and the V. So I tried to get the best shot I could of the top of her head. Can you tell from the pictures..is she a she? Im
