I keep a package of hand warmers (like hunters use) on hand for just such and occassion. Not as effective as the incubator, but they warm up to 99 degrees and stay warm for about 12 hours.

I know exactly what you mean. I lost most of my birds in early March and so of the ones are light brown, I have one left that is colorful. She hadn't laid an egg since the attack, and now this old wellie girl has laid 2 pretty ones in 2 days. Poor girl, the only free ranging survivor.

Ooooh that is a great idea!

Thanks for the information, and encouragement. I was just about to throw them out, but I will wait and see what happens.
(I wish I would have thought of the hand warmers. I have a drawer full of them from hunting season).

Thanks,
Michael
