, sounds like they are mixed with another breed as Welsummers don't have feathers on their legs- it is considered stubs and is a disqualifation(DQ).

The 3 new girls - my pullet from Moose/Cleo and Kim's 2 pullets are moving tonight. They are moving in with Moose!

Hopefully the integration will go well with the 6 hens that are in that coop with him.

The coop is smaller, but it's in my orchard, so the run is much bigger! (80 ft by 40 or so feet) I think they'll be happy there jumping for the low leaves on the fruit trees.

They can be purebred but it is the fault of genetics, a throwback. They should NOT have any featherings or stubs at all anywhere on their legs and feet. And yes it is a DQ.

I have already posted this in the wanted to buy section. I am looking for a young, but must be of breeding age, Welsummer Roo. I lost my only one this wk and he hadnt been covering the ladies for a long while now. (Meaning I dont have any fertile eggs to hatch). I am located in the extreme south western corner of NorthCarolina, near the Tn and Georgia state line. I am willing to drive a 100 miles or so to pickup. I am NPIP and need you to be too. I am looking for a quality rooster, not one of questionable heritage. PM me the details of what you have and include pics if possible.

Thanks

here's a few shots of my flock from pink's eggs.

muddstopper: unfortunately I don't have any breeding age roos or I'd love to take a drive your way and give ya one. Maybe in a few months if I can get this NPIP worked out, we can arrange something.

I just got a Welsummer chick the other day and she is already starting to warm up to me surprisingly, from all these pictures I'm really looking forward to raising one. I'll get my own images of her up soon! She is really an adorable chick (although most chicks are to be fair).

NCSprout.........very nice!

I put the 3 pullets in with Moose last night. I was up early so I went out to check on them and my oldest pullet came out into the run. Moose, being the great guy he is, was trying to impress her with his wing dancing. A little chasing by my Ameraucana, but Moose put a stop to that pretty darn fast. Kim's 2 pullets are still hiding in the coop - it's going to be hot today (100 yesterday) so if they don't come out, I'll put some water in the coop for them.

Gotta love integrating with a great rooster!

I have a wellie baby!!!!! It's not completely out yet, but currently zipping under my broody.
