I just candled and 14/16 are developing. 1 is iffy, but shell is dark and porus, but I am sure I see something. Soo I am going with 14/16 on day 8.

Heckel's Hens :

My eggs were doing great until I switched them to an LG for lockdown tonight. Not as reliable at temps as my Brower, but better on humidity. Now I'm crazy with worry, but feeling sick and going to bed. Just praying the temp holds overnight.

Well I have an interesting update...

Opened the 'bator last night to have a quick candle and EWWW YUCK!!! Something off in there!

Candled to find it and sure enough one of my eggs set on the 10th is looking very odd and smells a bit too. Took it out and continued on candling and hand turning as I go. Wasn't going to candle my Valentine's Day eggs because it's to early to see anything but since I had to pick them up to turn anyway I decided to have a look and see how many pourous ones I have because I have a few in the earlier set batch.

BOY AM I GLAD I DID!!!

I had one looked VERY black and STANK when I sniffed it!!!

Oh my, I wasn't due to candle them for another week and if I hadn't taken the lid off I wouldn't have smelt it and if I wasn't a candling addict I wouldn't have seen it. I really think it was about ready to explode it smelt so bad.

I am also SO glad I didn't crack it into food because it was being sold as an eating egg. Guess I know in future I better candle any eggs from there when I set them because I know it didn't turn into an egg bomb in the 36 hours it was in the 'bator!

EDIT to ad: Oh yeah, think I have around 20 of 24 developing

My overnight temp was 95 degrees. Ugh. I am too sick to care and just discouraged from this whole hatching thing. The temp has beenholding all day back at 101, but who knows if it will drop again randomly. I am so tired of checking my temps and turning them 50x a day. I'm getting bitter, but I swear i saw some of the eggs in lockdown move ever so slightly. Probably wishful thinking, but still trucking along...

The power went out!!!! I sprinted to the kitchen and threw a blanket over my incubator. As I was frantically looking for (and unable to find) the number of the power company

to see if they had an ETA on power coming back on, the power DID come back on.

Thank goodness, my Brinsea remembered all of its settings and just had a flashing "P" to let me know the power had gone out.

Miracles do happen. The first round of eggs that experienced three bouts of cooling down to 70 degrees 11 set- 3 to lockdown, candled again at 21 days pulled one--I HAD A CHICK HATCH RIGHT BEFORE I GOT HOME.

Day 23. Candles remaining egg and I think it might have a bit more of the yolk absorbed. I will leave it in with the second round of Blue Marans going to lock down tomorrow. These had 3 bouts of cooling too.
