Mr. Turbo, did you feed anyone in the barn while playing with your camera?
Maybe now I can get some pictures of my new birds. It is supposed to warm up on Sunday and the snow will turn to mud.

Sorry to hear yall have got sick ones. Seems to be alot of that stuff going around down here too. I guess its just that time of year I suppose for flu/etc....
Supposed to be 72 here for the next week...woohoo!! Getting tired of single digits and teens down here in Texas.

I updated some of the district and state meets on the Wyandotte Club website if anyone is interested www.wyandottebreedersofamerica.net
Hope to meet more Wyandotte breeders this year. We are over run with chicks right now in the brooder room….I wish it would warm up enough to move some to the shed. Maybe we need to insulate the shed and put a heater in there?? Does anyone have pictures of an outdoor brooder room they would like to share???

The boys are getting at the age when the hormones kick in and they go through that terror phase.
4 will get free passes to Sunday dinner and 1 will get to romance the girls. (Until I can get my hands on a SQ black wyandotte rooster)
I like the way Lester has developed the most even though he still has faults. I am kinda waiting to see how they turn out after the hormones wake up as I don't want a bad tempered rooster that charges and attacks humans no matter how good he looks.

2 of the girls will be going to a new home to help my friend rebuild after she lost her flock to dogs. Right now they are hanging out with their flockmates until their new home is more fortifide.

Sooo, that will leave me with 7 pullets soon to lay with 5 rowdy boys until I can make the big decision on who gets to stay with the girls.

My breeding focus is the blue/black/splash; just want to add other colored hens for fun and enjoyment. The rooster/s that would be kept for breeding for now will be the blue/black/splash. Been wanting to add some breed quality Wyandottes but after pricing 5 each of the colors I want (which is all of them) my check book squealed like a stuck piglet; so, I am trying to decide which other 2 colors to pick out along with the blue/black that I want. Leaning between LF Partridge, Buff, SL, GW, and Columbian. I am worried that the Columbians might get picked on by the local hawks when free ranging due to their coloring. My dad likes the look of the Colombians. For those that have the Columbians how do they do when free ranging?

We have no issues with our columbian's in any environment they do very well. I think the size may play a role with hawks etc. just make sure you can control the 4 legged predators and you should have no issues.

Sorry you're sick! Jerry'll be bringing you sprite with a straw again.
A friend of mine that has peafowl uses his old horse barn. One of the stalls had been converted to a work shop. It doubles as a brooder room and has an old potbelly stove. He wasn't brooding when I was there last time but it must have 80 degrees in there.
