The Wyandotte Thread

It's hard to tell from the photos. In the second picture the brow line appears to be okay.
White feathers are not inclkuded in the color description for a buff wyandotte in the Standard.
Where did the white feathers come from...what breed was the rooster?

I know it's not standard for a Buff, but I would like to "create" some more that are White Tailed Buff like him, I really like the contrast. Even though he's not a recognized color I still want to make sure he's a good example of a Wyandotte.

His dad is my older Wyandotte rooster(buff laced in coloring but came from a buff x blr cross)
and his mother/grandmother is one of my original Buff Wyandotte hens.

I won't be breeding him back to his mother/grandmother but I would like to breed him to his sisters since they also have some white in the tail feathers.

These pictures are older but these girls are a month older than Sam.

Agate our favorite glw roo.
He has such a good temperment. Eat treats out of my hand, and you can pick him up, but he protects his girls too. I gotta get some pics of our glw hen and our slw hens. I just love them. They don't take crap from anybody. They're the only ones who can put the guinea roo in his place.

only thing i can comment on, is the color of their feet/legs. should be a nice rich yellow, they all appear to be flesh-colored. yellow is recessive to white/pink tho, so if the roo's got yellow and one of the hens' parents were, then you'll get some correct chicks

Update on the SLW chicks the second one hatched but seems to have a neck problem of some sort. Seems fine other than that.... it is not walking and is holding its head kinda straight up like it is looking at the sky. I think I read vitamins might help but is it really hopeless?

I use Poly-Vi-Sol (without iron) infant vitamin drops to correct neck problems in chicks/ducklings. Just a couple drips in the mouth twice a day until it's better. You can get the drops at walmart or probably any store with a pharmacy area.
