The Wyandotte Thread

Thank you! It definitely was an honor for him to place my birds. I feel like I am becoming recognized a bit more especially by the other breeders even though I am young. I always meet the nicest people at shows. Can't wait to go to the next show!

We have a great pyeranees but she was in side eating at the time of the attack. My good pullets weren't eaten (thank god) but I'm still sad I lost the others. My poor dad lost his favorite partridge cochin hen and it was on his birthday too :(. Thankfully he still has his partridge cochin rooster. I think the fox that came through is the new mate of the female that hangs around. I think she just had kits or is about to and that's why the male we saw was so bold. We haven't had a fox attack in 3 years until yesterday. Hopefully this is that last!

We lost 9 laying hens to a mother fox last spring we put a radio (the human voices are supposed to keep them away) in the barn and set alarms at night it scared her off and we are hoping she won't be back this year! Sorry for your loss!

Does anyone just breed Black Wyandottes? All we can find is BBS breeders. We are looking for Black for a project...
if you can't find blacks, you can build your own line of blacks from black and blues, since 50% would be black. 2 blues would produce 25% black... if the type is great go for it.

I hatched 6 more SLW

more in the hatcher and several had pipped

Finally I might can get me a flock of new breeders

I have a younger pair that I hatched from my SLW I got from Foley (only eggs I have hatched from her, I think) and the pullet has started to lay

I think I will put her in the SLW pen.... my fear is she would be the only addition to the pen. Suggestions? I have a broody I could take her out (might break her too) and then put them BOTH back in about a week. She is KILLING my egg laying in that pen. Why do they all stop laying if one goes broody

I think that's a good plan. Are you using the wire-bottomed cage to break her? About the laying, do you think they're hiding their eggs? Also, you could add more nest boxes.
