The Wyandotte Thread

Lol, don't you hate that. My Partridge Wyandottes seem to go broody a lot.

One round of eggs, then they get broody. Good thing I have them for looks and not egg production.

at one time we can have 2-3 broodys in a cage to break them......

I think I have a customer backing out of the SLW chick order that ships Tuesday.....we might see some SLW chicks listed on Featherauction tomorrow.

Ohhhh I WISH!!

These pictures are of a chick I hatched out of 6. It hatched out yellow and I assumed it was a splash. The other 5 chicks that hatched with it are blues. You can see by the progression in the pictures that the feathers ended up coming in blue at 5 weeks of age. It is a rooster. I have never had this happen before. Has anyone else? I'm scratching my head on this one!

I will be glad when hatching season is over....we are all tired! For some reason this year has been crazy, maybe because we added a new variety and a 5th child to the mix.

He is almost 10 months and does not like me to leave the room, let alone sneak to the barn or brooder room.

we hatch a few like that.....they are showing wheaten. You should have a nice deep mahogony on that bird once it matures.

Thank-you! I was hoping you would respond since the hen this chick came from is one of your black laced red girls. Yes, the red that is coming in on this guy is a beautiful, dark mahogony

Dont be doing this to me again lol... If I didnt have everything overflowing Id buy them in a heartbeat. Always next year though.

OMG! I am new to chickens, new to BYC, have 10 Wyandotte chicks and have been reading and LAUGHING HYSTERICALLY over all the broody comments! All of you are so funny! I'm sure you all know each other, but my DH thinks I'm absolutely bonkers sitting here laughing so hard that tears are rolling down my face - I keep trying to read your comments out loud to him, but I can't get the words out. Thanks for all the fun this evening - I haven't laughed like this in a long time. (Probably not a laughing matter to you, but since all I've had so far are chicks.... it's just too funny!) It sounds like you have a great group on this thread.

He's too cute! I like your "Nanna Dog" watching over him too. Ours does that also.
