Today is day 7

. That week went by quite fast.

chicken josaphine isn't too fussed on her new diet

or any food for that matter. I was down at the coop last night for two hours spoon feeding her, or at least trying to

. so I have resorted to getting her food and putting little bits in her beak for her to swallow, at least she can still do that

. oh well, only two more weeks to go

Well, it sounds like you are taking very good care of Miss Josephine!

They do get thin while they are setting, yes. I don't know how they do it, but their metabolism changes while they brood and they require less food and nutrients. Amazing, isn't it!

I was looking over your list and didn't see scrambled eggs. I give them to my broody girls a couple of times a week, it really seems to help keep them in condition and they seem to really like them too. Seems a little "off" to be feeding a broody hen eggs I know, but it's worked well with my girls.

she's not eating less food, she's eating no food. well she had been untill I started spending heaps of time feeding her

I hope all broodies aren't this difficult.

Nope, nature usually causes them to eat and drink appropriately. I wish you luck with your broody, she seems very serious.

Maybe getting locked out has her frightened to leave the nest at all?

Today is the begining of day 8
I haven't been down to the coop yet as I have to make chicken josephine's breaky first, I'll do that in a minute. It is such a tease making all this food, well the bread and poridge anyway. I found out a few weeks ago that I am allergic to wheat/gluten and eggs

yesterday we got a doubleyolker, ouch that must have hurt. I really feel like trying to hatch it but I let someone borrow my incubator and they just keep filling it up with eggs. but I have to say I am very proud of myself, I have helped someone find their addiction to hatching
