They did it again, gave me a rooster, I ordered a hen!

Wow I'm sorry to hear about your hens and the bear issue!

I always like to hand pick my chicks for this reason. I know everyone can't do this, but from observing the chicks I can pick out pullet vs cockerels. Looking at them based on their behavior... so far spot on with my chicks. I also prefer this because any health issues can be noted and they all arrive home alive.

My first order with MMc, I ordered 3 Dominique pullets. Doms are auto sexing. I'd never laid eyes on an actual Dominique before but the minute I saw them, I KNEW that they were all cockerels. The company did make it right for me. But, that does not negate the time and effort spent brooding chicks of the wrong gender. Nor does it replace a lost year of my breeding program. But mistakes do happen. My replacement order (the following year) were all correctly sexed.
