:weewent in this morning and one little egg has a tiny hole, it's a day early not due until tomorrow. so all that worry that my incubator in running on the cool side was rubbish. i never had an early hatch before will they be ok. i am at work now until 12 so i can't wait to get home and see it this little one has made it out ok.

oh dear it's now been 12 hours and the little chick is still in the egg, he not made any progress. i tap the incubator and he makes little cheep noise so he's still alive, should i give him a hand or wait, don't want to lose the little one.

They can sit in the egg with a pip for up to 24 hours before they zip and hatch. He will be resting, absorbing the blood vessels and absorbing his yolk sac. Helping before he’s ready to hatch can do more harm than good.

Try not to worry, easier said than done I know but he’s cheeping and can get air through the pip so everything seems normal.

thank you i will try and be patient, not easy though. come on little chick we are waiting for you.

I felt the same way with our chicks, which hatched two days late. But I agree with Yorkshire Coop. Trying to help will only cause more problems and if the chick is not ready when you try to help, then that will result in it bleeding out and dying. Good luck with the hatch!!!:thumbsup

i just spotted another egg with a little hole, :yawould of missed it but saw some shell just under the egg. the other has opened up a tiny bit more, how am i going to sleep tonight with all this going on, plus i have to be up early for work. non of the araucana has started to hatch yet only my silver laced wyandotte.

18 hours and he's still in the egg. he's still chirping and have made the hole slightly bigger, the other egg has not progressed from the small hole.
