They won't stop eating!!!!!

Totally impossible. Brooder is a rubbermaid storage container with lid. The brooder is 2 feet off the ground on a wooden end table with legs. Nothing is getting in there. They sit in front of that darn feeder more than half their lives.

A grown Chicken should receive 6oz of feed per day. With a 100 chickens that's 37.5 # a day. I feed out around 50# a day.
Chickens eat all day long. If their is feed around they will eat it. Mine free range and they still eat all I give them.

I use quart jars with the feeder attached. I have never checked the chicks for average consumption but I go though a lot of starter.

I have 5 8-week old chicks and they go through a quart of feed every 3 or 4 days. That is their main feed, very few treats. So something else is going on with yours.

I think your average physicist hasn't owned chickens, or they'd be rewriting that branch of science. Every chicken owner knows that chicks fit more mass into their stomachs and crops than their own total body mass. Maybe they carry miniature black holes....

That...I can believe. I cleaned out the brooder today, and while there was 'some' waste, nowhere near enough to explain away that much food. They are just eating like mad. And growing. My god, they've quadrupled in size in the last week and a half. I really never knew they'd progress so fast. One seems almost completely feathered out already, except for it's head. In 3 weeks??
