We've been killing rats around here lately... I can't even imagine letting one of those females out around here.... there would be a population explosion.

Creepy.

Nah, you're in Arizona. Sure it's hot, but it only takes one cool night. Plus there's not enough humidity there for these roaches to survive. I'd be more worried about them reproducing in Florida, but I've never had an escapee, one falls out and I pick it up. Compared to the regular pest roaches, these guys are slow and lumbering.

How do you keep them that warm? Are they on a heat mat or use a brooder lamp or what? I ask b/c they would certainly survive summers here but I keep my house temp set on 62 in the winter.... I'm sure my girls would enjoy them if I could start a colony year-round.

Just a human heat pad set on medium, with a ceramic heat lamp that sits a foot over the screened hole in the lid.

Bump. Most of the prego females released their nymphs today and last night. I'd say there's around 800 new borns now.

I've seen a few of these around my place . . . I don't know if I could bring myself to feed them to my girls. They're too big to step on so I just leave 'em be. Now that I see how they reproduce me thinks I'm going to rethink it!

There is something oh so wrong with purposely bringing roaches in!!! I'll stick to mealworms, thank you.
